Project Wolf – Early Planning

This is more a thinking out loud rather than a guide since all the info I have from Wolf comes from some KR streams, a lot of research and my personal experience with a top PvP clan in Aden back in 2021.

I know there are people that might be interested in this and others might want to wait a bit for a more detailed guide / info after the server opens. In any case, I will do what I always like to do, geek out on classes, skills and figure out what I want to play. With that I will also include why along with what we know so far.

Lets start with the restriction that we will have, which is 2 clients per PC, from past experience it is not per IP, unless this becomes a thing, it is a way to prevent the server from being overcrowded early on, this is something I believe that will be lifted at some point. Then we have the amount each account can spend, it was mentioned that this limit is permanent, that for once is a nice thing, you might not want to spend as much or even at all and still be somewhat close to the average of the server, the limit is 10 passes per account for 15$ each aka 150$ each.

Every account that pre-registers will receive:

The 2 dolls, will be a nice boost, that pdef/mdef and 80% chance for VR (vampiric rage) which is awesome for melee classes, compared to Aden start, we had to use a ton of potions, I believe we will not have an HP regen issue with these items, well they are more of a passive stat.

The 1/2/3* books & masterbook are also a HUGE initial boost since those were usually dropped from Raids or had a 10-30% success rate to craft using tablets, I could not find a “craft” tab now, a lot has changed since I stopped playing so we will see how we can obtain more books for the rest of the skills.

I am not sure what are the contents of the “wolf necklace pack” or “Level Achievement Growth Package Lv. 40” but I believe the later to be a +4 c grade armor with a +7 B grade weapon, something similar to the “starter” pack.

The accessories are also a nice boost, especially the Evas earring with the Mana Regen bonus and applies to the vast majority of the classes, of course the sayha’s ring is also a pretty nice boost too.

Lastly consumables and the mana tablets are used to learn skills and 5 is a good start but you “usually” need a stack of 31 to learn each skill, some classes have more skills that require tablets than others, i.e Daggers. Consumables is something you will always need, it is very likely that a portion of your daily adena farm, will be re-invested into shots and ore since some classes require more than others, spirit ore is not used just for buffs but to use skills also.

What Class to Play?

Let me start by saying that in Essence, you can change class with “class change tickets”, something like the Red Libra on Live and by changing class you assume the race as well, so you do not have to reroll from 0. Now one thing I remember is that you lose ALL skills, so I think it would be a good idea to pre-register on 2-3 accounts, simply for the books.

I will say that based on my Essence experience that for the most part classes are somewhat equal, but let me expand on this. Some have a good farming capability early in the game, others need their 76+ skills to be able to farm decently but if we put 2 classes one with good early game farm and another with late game farm, in a span of 3-4 months, they will farm roughly the same. Of course, ranged class will outfarm a melee class, Shilien Elder vs Dagger but a Dagger will have a slight edge in PvP. Different classes for different aspects of the game.

Of course some classes farm really nice and some are “FoTM” class (Fruit of the month, meaning the most popular) from information I gathered, the new Varka will be top tier farmer, along with Templar, Elemental Summoner & Shilien Knight.

My personal choice will most likely be Templar and I will be making a Shilien Elder, an Elemental Summoner and I really want to make an archer, so I am leaning towards Moonlight Sentinel. I have gathered information from current players on Aden as to what farms best. For PvP, I cannot make any recommendations but I know people will play all shorts of classes, either for nostalgia or to experience something new.

Essence Features

Some of the features might not make sense but the game is built like that so we have to “play” along, for example, there is a lot of gear that is NOT tradable. You simply farm and you build your own character, unlike Live that you need LUC to enchant your items.

All essence Armors and Weapons have a max enchant of +10 and it is not easy to get items to that enchant.

There are NO armor sets or armor masteries, for example, nightmare light gloves/boots give Vampiric Rage so you can be a Tank, use Majestic Heavy main armor for the stun resist and then use NM ( nightmare) gloves/boots so you do not have to use potions at all, Majestic Heavy Gloves and Boots give Attk Speed, so you might see archers with Majestic Light main armor and heavy Boots and Gloves, or back on the tank build, you can get a Dark Crystal helmet that gives the best Pdef boost. Of course this normalizes later on with higher tier armor and as you get more gear. Lets just say it is very similar to what we had back in the day, that you would wear what was available to you.

Raids are a thing in Essence, and a very good chance to see and experience mass PvP for those that are interested, all raids have a timer so every1 can see when they spawn and you can jump to each boss by paying L coin ( one of the currencies in Essence) or if you have my teleports saved.
