Lineage II has been a game with a lot of nostalgia and memories, some good others… well, not so good but most players feel the need to make a comeback, either to play or sometimes to interact with the “not so friendly” community. We all have our moments, feel the need to troll a bit, or create some good old conflict, so we have something to do while we play.
Over the years, the game as we know it has evolved and at the same time, a few different versions of the game have emerged. Just so we are on the same page, the “good old Lineage 2” is now called “Live” and the rest of the versions are Classic, Aden and Project Wolf.
Now Classic may fool you by its name, it is not an older version of the game as many Private Servers, there is no Official C4/Interlude/Gracia servers that you can log in and just PvP, Classic has kept the classes as they before Goddes of Destruction, with a few altered skills and a very very different set of items, launched in 2018 with great hype from the players but it did fail to make an impact. Currently it is the least populated server.
Aden is actually “Essence” a more streamlined version of Lineage 2, launched in 2021 in the West. This version has a completely different model, its has more solo-oriented content unless you PvP or Raid, its been a minute since I played but I can tell you that it was really fun in the beginning when there was a spending limit per account, once the serious P2W started, the population slowly started to decrease.
Project Eva is an Essence based version that is not out in the West, NCA (NC America), decided to skip that version, instead we have the latest Essence version “Project Wolf”
Project Wolf is the latest version that will be available from 15th of April 2025 and as I mentioned earlier is the latest Essence version of the game. At this point, I would like to mention that all versions have their own servers, both EU and NA but keep in mind that there is Dimensional Content (Especially in Essence and Live versions, its been a while since I played Classic and since there will be no classic content on the website, I will not try to find out ). The reason I am saying this is there are instances that have “shared” times so regardless the server you play, the game content is based on fixed times.
This latest project is rumored to have limited spending as a permanent feature and an even easier leveling process, currently this version is not out yet so I will be updating this upon its release.
If I may offer a suggestion, I would say for those that are returning to the Live version, to play on Chronos as it has the most amount of people and at the same time the market has an abundance of items and reasonable prices for gear. Everyone else that is looking to start fresh, I would suggest Wolf since it will be easier to catch up.
Finally, I would like to let you know in advance, that the f2p model or the ability to play ( and enjoy the game) with 15-20$ is not something that is doable on Live, on Wolf I believe some progress can be made with that amount but the limit on every account will be 10 Wolf Passes (15$ per) so expect to spend anything between 15$ and 150$ or euros depending where you live.
